This post is within the Accountancy Section of Revenues.
The Accountancy section has qualified and experienced Accountants providing professional financial advice and accountancy support to all Directorates, Schools and a range of Outside Bodies and Joint Committees.
The successful applicant will support the financial management and accounting for VAT and Trust Funds.
About the job
The candidate will be required to prepare the relevant returns for the Councils Trust Funds and VAT. Ensuring timely and accurate submission.
To undertake in-depth reviews of Service Areas transactions to ensure VAT is being dealt with thoroughly, accurately, complies with HMRC Legislation and quickly remedies any concerns.
Provide specialist taxation advice and updating internal guidance.
Identify process and system improvements to ensure continuous improvement in this area.
What We Are Looking For From You
Candidates should hold a relevant financial qualification i.e. CCAB, AAT, part qualified CCAB or qualified by a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role and have good knowledge of local government finance as well as a desire for continuous development.
Good organisational skills including the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload in a changing environment.
Proven ability to use own initiative with the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with all Service Areas.
Good communication and computer skills are essential as is the ability to learn quickly and produce a high standard of work within challenging deadlines.
