About The Service

The Money Advice Team is a welfare and benefits team and sees approximately 1500 people a month identifying financial support, grants and discounts and dealing with debt. The Team is expanding due to the demand and the essential need of people visiting the 20+ locations a week that the team are committed to attending.

About the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed individual with excellent communication and customer service skills, together with a high standard of knowledge on Welfare Benefits amongst other things to support the expanding Money Advice team and the progress of the service.

The successful candidate will also be required to recruit and assist new starters and support with the progress and expansion of the Money Advice Team. They will have line managing duties for a small team.

The successful candidates will have knowledge of the services the Money Advice Team provide, as well as having knowledge and experience of dealing with Recruitment, Sicknesses, Leave and HR relevant policies.

This role will require liaising with teams both internally and external to the Council and reporting to the Advice Coordinator and Money Advice Manager the progress of the services provided.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidates will have a high standard of knowledge on the following;

-Welfare Benefits and Income Maximisation. This will encompass Council Tax and Council Tax reduction, debt, referrals and signposting.

-Experience of dealing with new starters; recruitment, systems access, and induction processes.

-Experience in auditing and working with a training or auditing team in identifying individuals who may need extra support or those who are able to progress to the next level of training.

-Reporting and statistics. Creating reports and statistics and the ability to articulate these to identify needs, demand and areas of success.

-The successful candidate will be directly responsible for a small project so must have experience dealing with teams and projects.

The ability to speak other languages in particular Welsh, Somali, Arabic or Polish would be an advantage.

Evening and weekend working will be required on a rota basis.
