The Asbestos Officer provides a professional support service to Building Managers within the council’s corporate buildings to ensure compliance with Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
About the job
Experienced and dynamic Asbestos Officers are required to join the team. The primary purpose of this role is to carry out asbestos management surveys on Cardiff Council premises to enable the Council to manage the risk from asbestos containing materials on a day to day basis as well as support routine building maintenance and improvement.
In addition the post holder will provide specialist advice to technical officers to support asset improvement works, respond to concerns, advise on remediation works and act as part of the Council’s specialist team on all aspects of asbestos management. The post will sit within the Health and Safety Division and report to the Health and Safety Compliance Manager
What We Are Looking For From You
You will be a dynamic asbestos professional, with experience of delivering surveying and consultancy services as well as organising and monitoring asbestos remediation works.
You will have a proven track record of advising on asbestos management issues, as well as practical experience of undertaking inspections, risk assessments and accident investigations. You will need to possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to prioritise varying tasks and workload, to align with service targets and deadlines along with reactive responses within specified timeframes.
You will be committed to providing a high quality of professional advice and support to our Building Managers and Maintenance staff to ensure the safety and wellbeing of members of the staff and public.
