About The Service

The Gypsy Traveller Service forms part of the Supported Accommodation and Assessment Section and provides culturally appropriate accommodation, suitable to the needs of the Gypsy & Traveller Community. Through sites, site management deliver the following provisions:

  • Dedicated housing management service
  • Repairs and maintenance service
  • Support Services

The service are currently implementing ambitious plans focusing on health, education and additional accommodation, creating an exciting opportunity for individuals to join the team as the service continues to grow in the future.

About the job

We are recruiting for an Assistant Gypsy & Traveller Services Officer on a temporary basis until March 2025 to cover Maternity leave:

The post holder will be the first point of contact for all direct presentations and telephone communications at the Gypsy & Traveller sites. Offering a reception service to service users, visitors, contractors and external agencies.

Managing the daily income of Utility credits.

Providing basic support services, raising referrals, sign posting and administrative duties.

The successful candidate should have experience of working with the public and in a housing related environment would be an advantage.

Additional information

The postholder will be based on the local authority Gypsy & Traveller sites.

There is no opportunity for hybrid working.

This post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced checks.

A full and valid driving licence and access to own vehicle is an essential requirement of this role.

Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Head teacher / Governing Body.
