The post sits within the Cleaning and Support Team (Properties Services Division) which forms part of Cardiff Council’s Economic Development Directorate. The Cleaning and Support Team is primarily responsible for providing cleaning and security services to both school and corporate Council buildings.
About the job
The Council is seeking temporary cleaners (initially on a 6 month contract).
The purpose of the job is to:
- Providing a high quality, value for money, customer focused on-site cleaning service, and
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective service delivery, share knowledge and keep working within service practices.
Opportunities exist within school buildings throughout the Cardiff area. Typically, Cleaners will be expected to work Monday to Friday, 8 to 15 hours per week, either 6:00am – 8.00am or 3:15pm – 6:30pm, but hours and times may vary.
Training, uniform and Personal Protective Clothing (PPE) will be provided.

- Physically capable of completing cleaning tasks over a prolonged period to the required high standard;

- Awareness and ability to practice social distancing in the workplace as required.
Additional information
This post is part time, the hours and weeks worked will be agreed should you be successful after interview. The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.
This salary is subject to the Living Wage Supplement that tops up the basic rate of pay to £9.50 per hour. The supplement will be reviewed every April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage Supplement.
