You will earn £23,152 a year working full time (37 hour a week), or £12 per hour pro rata, as we are a Voluntary Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is reviewed each year and Cardiff Council reserves the right to make changes to, or remove, the Living Wage Supplement.

Our Major Projects Team is looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) Major Projects Support Officer based at County Hall, Atlantic Wharf CF104UW to contribute to our Service helping us to deliver regeneration and development projects that support the Council’s vision for the Capital’s regeneration and future development in line with the Wellbeing of Future Generations and the Council’s Greener, Fairer, Stronger City-Recovery and Renewal Strategy.

Our Major Projects Team is also looking to employ a Corporate Trainee Projects Support Officer via separate job advert.

About the job

In this Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) role you will:

Be able to get involved in some of the most exciting regeneration projects and learn a range of Business Administration, Project Management and stakeholder engagement skills as well as developing an understanding of the governance requirements that support the delivery of Major Projects. 

Gain a significant understanding of the Political and Officer led decision making processes for the Local Authority.

You will learn about programme and project management and how it is delivered in Cardiff Council. You will learn about each of our team roles and carry out a range of tasks that support the projects and analysis work required to deliver major projects.

Some of the tasks include:

  • Scheduling and attending meetings and taking notes
  • Updating records, databases and plans
  • Undertaking basic research and analysis
  • Develop project management documentation
  • Providing general project support

As well as other general office administration and communicating with colleagues in the team and from other services over the telephone, Microsoft Teams or in face-to-face meetings.

This is an agile working position, so some tasks may be carried out at home or at other council locations.

The Major Projects team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties.

To support your development, you will also undertake a Welsh Government Apprenticeship Framework Qualification in Digital Skills for Business Level 3 in the role, and will receive on the job training and supervision to help you deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive and customer focussed manner. You will also be supported by a named mentor who will encourage you to develop a range of transferrable skills to support your career progression.

Many of our teams work online with a mix of home or hybrid (office) working. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment and training, however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (support may be available to help with this).

The working week is Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
