Whitchurch High School are looking to employ a Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) ICT Technician based at Whitchurch High School, Penlline Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 2XJ. The ideal candidate has a willingness to learn about ICT systems and networks within a school environment.
About the job
In this Corporate Apprentice (Level 3) role you will learn to:
- Set up equipment for staff and external speakers when required and assist with INSET training for teaching and support school staff.
- Install and update software
- Maintain computer peripheral equipment such as printers, projectors and Smartboards.
- Assist in the deployment of computer hardware around the school.
- Repair faults identified via the School Helpdesk system.
- Set up, maintain and remove user network accounts where appropriate.
- Carry out network maintenance tasks (i.e., Replace Network points and patch leads).
Full training will be provided and our Team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training and will have a named mentor to support you to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer-focused manner.

This post is temporary for 21 months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37 hour week although many roles can be worked on a part time basis and at least 16 hours per week for apprentice roles.
This salary is subject to the Living Wage Supplement that tops up the basic rate of pay to £9.90 per hour. The supplement will be reviewed every April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage Supplement.
