An exciting and interesting opportunity has arisen within the Bereavement Services Team for a Crematorium Assistant. Cardiff Bereavement Services is a multi-award winning service operating a crematorium and 8 cemeteries across Cardiff delivering a high standard of service to the bereaved and service users in a most sensitive working environment.
The Crematorium Assistant will be based at Thornhill Crematorium and will be the first point of contact for the collection of Cremated Remains. We pride ourselves in providing excellent customer services and are therefore looking for a customer focused individual to join our front line team in the delivery of exceptional customer care.
About the job
The key role of the post will be to provide an efficient and high quality first point of contact for all enquires to the Crematorium Office.
There are two main elements to the job, the first is to be responsible for logging and correct storage of all the Cremated remains and liaise with the Funeral Directors and public in the hand over of Cremated remains. The second element of the role will involve leaving site and collecting coffins from UHW and Funeral Directors premises directly in the departments Private Ambulance.
You will also be expected to provide cover and support to the Chapel Attendants and Crematorium Technicians and assist with duties around the Crematorium like garden clearance and Cemetery opening up and locking up if required.
What We Are Looking For From You
Experience of working within a customer orientated service, ability to communicate effectively, creating and attending appointments within timescales and attention to detail is imperative.
The successful candidate must have the ability to lone work effectively and diary management alongside other service provision is essential. The individual must be competent in the use of IT systems and have the ability to deal with often distressed individuals in an emphatic way.
