The highway maintenance team delivers a range of maintenance services to keep the highway and other council drainage assets to a safe standard for all users and customers.
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen in the Highway Operations maintenance team for a Drainage charge hand/driver.
About the job
The core function of this front line role, as part of the drainage team, is to deliver planned and reactive drainage maintenance services.
On site you will be the lead for a team of drainage operatives to deal with a wide variety of drainage related problems and issues associated with Highway and Land Drainage, sewers and pumping stations, SLA’s and general public enquiries. You will be required to utilise various vehicles and equipment including LGV vehicles (licence essential).
The post will work collaboratively with other delivery services within Neighbourhood Services and the wider authority. There will also be a requirement to provide a customer focused service directly to residents.
What We Are Looking For From You
Must have experience of working in a drainage and highway environment. Must be qualified in confined spaces and hold a full drivers licence including LGV Cat C. Must have experience of dealing with the general public and have excellent communication skills.
Additional information
Working Knowledge of on-site health and safety. Required to participate in out-of-hours call out. Utilise technology and I.T. equipment as required. Requirement to work outdoors in all weather conditions and various locations within the city and county of Cardiff. Maintain the reputation of the Council by adopting a professional and courteous approach.
