Cardiff Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi-agency partnership, working with children and young people aged 10-17; their families; and victims of their behaviour in order to reduce risk of offending and reoffending, protect the public and repair harm.
As we continue upon our successful improvement journey, a vacancy has arisen to be part of the staff team to promote educational outcomes for young people known to the Youth Justice Service in Cardiff.
We aim to be a strengths-based responsive service that works in partnership with children and young people, their families, victims, and partners across the Local Authority to provide the very best support, challenge and growth opportunities for young people within our service.

The successful candidate will act as a direct link between Cardiff YJS, the Local Education Authority and schools. The post holder will be the main point of contact for the YJS to understand the educational situation of children and young people within the service and will also liaise with schools and other education providers round YJS matters and support.
The post is offered on a temporary basis, to cover an internal secondment, initially until 31st March 2025 and will sit within the Prevention Team.

What We Are Looking For From You
- You will have an understanding of the criminal justice system as it affects children and young people (aged 10 –17) who offend and/or commit anti-social behaviour.
- You will have an experience of working with disaffected children and young people
- You will be able to evidence building positive relationships with young people
- You will have knowledge of barriers to education and a knowledge of education issues in Wales, including ALN reform.
