The service currently has a Full Time vacancy for a senior graded Finance Officer within the Housing Finance Team responsible for Homeless Leasing Scheme properties and Private Rented Sector properties under the Welsh Government scheme sites across Cardiff
About the job
The main function of the post is to be responsible for the recovery of rent arrears/service charges for Housing provided by Cardiff Council’s homeless service and waiting list applicants and to take all appropriate recovery action but could also be required to assist with other types of rent accounts across the service as and when required. Supporting contract holders/licencees who could be in financial hardship is also required and in addition to this, the post holder will be responsible for liaising with support staff and other agencies as well as in some cases doing face to face visits with the service users when the need arises.
What We Are Looking For From You
Essential requirements include experience in debt recovery for rent or other debts up to and including legal action, the ability to follow complex procedures and the use of IT systems. Finance Officers will interact with the Housing Benefit department on a daily basis and also conduct lone visits to the temporary accommodation sites/customers’ homes and therefore previous experience of undertaking home visits is also essential.
Experience of supervising and mentoring others and providing formal and informal feed back would be an advantage.
