About The Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed individual to join our Partnerships and Joint Commissioning Team as a Grant Fund Accountant. The aim of the team is to bring transformation and funding opportunities together and use local knowledge and information to design services to meet the needs of our citizens.

The Partnerships and Joint Commissioning Team manage a range of Welsh Government Grants including the Housing Support Grant, Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) Grant and the Children and Communities Grant and are also responsible for the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

About the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with financial reconciliation of spend for the Shared Prosperity Fund ensuring financial accountability for all expenditure claims made to the UK Government.

The successful applicant will work in close liaison with project leads, managers and accountants within a range of service areas in the Council, as well as with key partners including Health and the Third Sector.

As part of the transformation agenda the post holder will also assist in the wider range of operational planning, development and implementation of key work programmes that support the strategic direction of the Council’s Corporate plan, Wellbeing plan and Community Safety plan.

What We Are Looking For From You

You will have proven experience in an accountancy or similar role, and the ability to manipulate financial data systems; you should be experienced in the use of SAP and Excel or similar programs. The role will involve working with internal and external partners to ensure the Fund is spent appropriately, therefore excellent communication and organisational skills are essential. You will have experience of managing significant budgets and resources.

Experience and knowledge of financial regulations and related policies and protocols in relation to accountancy and/or auditing standards would be an advantage. The successful applicant will need to have experience of working with new technology and have excellent digital skills. You will need to work well within a team and be able to work on your own initiative.

The post is temporary until 30th March 2025.
