The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund (the Fund) is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) that is administered by Cardiff Council. The Fund currently has a value of over £2.5 billion with a customer base of over 44,000 current, deferred and pensioner members. Along with other LGPS Funds in Wales, this fund is a member of the Wales Partnership Fund (WPP).
About the job
We have an exciting new opening for a Group Accountant to assist and shape the effective management of the Fund investments. You will be responsible for all aspects of the Fund’s financial compliance and reporting whilst ensuring that that robust processes and polices are in place and adhered to.
You will work in partnership with the Pensions Manager supporting production and presentation of reports to key stakeholder meetings and you will also be a key member in meetings and working groups of the Wales Pension Partnership (WPP). You will have the opportunity to influence, develop and introduce new policies for the Fund including “Net Zero” targets whilst also ensuring that policies fully incorporate future regulations and guidance from external regulators.
What We Are Looking for From You
- You will hold a relevant financial qualification such as CCAB, AAT, CCAB (part qualified) along with excellent knowledge of local government/public sector finance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential alongside the ability to effectively challenge the financial robustness of information whilst maintaining effective cross-functional working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- You will have strong technical and numeracy skills and be able to work to high standards and work efficiently under pressure.
- Self-starter with high levels of motivation and ability to prioritise workloads and demands.
