About The Service

Rent Smart Wales delivers a Registration and Licensing Scheme for landlords and agents of rented property across Wales. This follows the designation of Cardiff Council as the Single Licensing Authority for Wales. Its aim is to secure safe and well managed property for tenants by making sure that those who let out and manage property are fit and proper to do so, understand their legal obligations and comply with requirements placed on them through the application of law and licence conditions. To achieve this we offer advice, support and training.

About the job

This role is one of five Group Leader positions within the service which are interchangeable and form the Rent Smart Wales Management Team. The current vacancy is specifically managing the Business Support Team and supporting the partnership with local authorities and stakeholders. It is critical to ensuring the technical and resource infrastructure is in place to deliver the service on a day-to-day basis as well as securing service improvements. Functions overseen within the team include communication and marketing, database development, staff induction and training programmes, business continuity arrangements, contracts and financial procedures / monitoring and customer complaints, FOIs and data requests. It's importance within the service cannot be overstated.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will have:
• A degree with relevant experience of managing a busy service in a relevant sector e.g. housing/licensing.
• Be able to demonstrate their commitment to customer service and partnership
• Excellent IT skills and understanding of database construction, development and management
• Excellent project management skills, communication and marketing skills and
• Have the potential to be an effective business and people manager

This will be an exciting opportunity to influence change to the private rented sector in Wales; working closely with partners from local government across 22 local authorities, Welsh Government, landlord and agent organisations and training companies to ensure its success.
