Salary: Spinal Points 30 - 34 + 3 SPA (£73,215 - £81,809)

Education is at the heart of the city’s ‘Capital Ambition’.   There are strong partnerships in place with schools, businesses, creative industries, the Central South Consortium and many other partners.  Following a successful Estyn Inspection of the Education Directorate, and with an authority profile where no school is in Estyn follow up capacity, we want to continue to focus on the key areas of achievement and accountability, ensuring the best possible outcomes for all our young people. Educational outcomes have improved year-on-year, but there is still more to do.  Cardiff has an ambitious programme to develop the school estate and is committed to becoming a UNICEF Child Friendly City.

About the job

This is an exciting time to join Cardiff Council in this key role.  The successful candidate will lead on the continued development of Cardiff’s approach to School Improvement, Achievement and Accountability.

You will lead a range of services within the Education Directorate that support the improvement of educational attainment and achievement of all learners in Cardiff. 

You will lead the partnership arrangements with the Central South Consortium, and work closely with school leaders, governors, senior officers in the Directorate and across the Council, and young people. 

 

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Education, you will have oversight of all accountability frameworks linked with schools and alignment with the self evaluation and performance management arrangements for the wider Education directorate

You will be a successful senior leader with a track record of delivering educational improvement, and have a clear understanding of what constitutes excellence in primary and secondary education. You will have the ability to lead and motivate staff to perform at a high level, drive school improvement and champion the children and young people of Cardiff.
