About The Service

The Cardiff Healthy Schools Scheme is part of the Welsh Network of Healthy School Schemes, which was established in 1999. The Cardiff team is based within the Cardiff Education Service and its main aim is to support schools to promote the health and wellbeing of their learners, staff and wider community by progressing through the Healthy Schools scheme. The team also includes the Cardiff Healthy and Sustainable Pre-School Scheme (CHaSPS), which was established in 2011.

About the job

This post involves mainly office-based work such as organisation of training, events and meetings, including minute-taking. You will have responsibility for team communications to schools through e-bulletins, newsletters and the team Twitter account. Other duties include co-ordinating the resource library, ordering and payment of resources/services and monitoring expenditure. You will also manage the team’s computerised databases/spreadsheets to support with monitoring and evaluation of the scheme and manage electronic resources on Hwb and on other portals to make them easily accessible for school staff.

There will be some involvement in supporting the Healthy Schools/Pre-schools team with school/pre-school accreditation visits, when required.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who demonstrates excellent organisational and ICT skills, along with clear verbal and written communication skills.  The work involves a wide range of varied tasks so you would need to be willing to work flexibly as part of a team and be able to plan and prioritise a diverse workload.  An interest in health-related issues and the ability to use Welsh in the workplace would also be desirable.

Additional information

Initially, the post is funded by Public Health Wales on a temporary basis until 31st March 2023, but this may be extended subject to further funding. 

Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools-based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body. 

This post is part time and will work 18 hours per week (term time only). The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week, 52 weeks and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.
