About The Service

Cardiff Councils Support and Accommodation Service provide accommodation, advice and support to vulnerable single people and families in housing need. Our services run 24/7 365 days a year.

Due to the Covid19 pandemic, our service has had to make large changes and the successful candidates will contribute to the expansion of the service.

About the job

  • Cardiff Councils Housing First service provides Rapid housing solutions to individuals with complex needs who have been identified as sleeping rough or have recently been released from prison.
  • As a Housing First Officer you will be required to support people to maintain their tenancy, seeking to remove barriers and ending the cycle of homelessness. The role of the Housing First Officer requires successful candidate to work with multiple agencies including Cardiff Probation Service, Substance Misuse Services ,Cardiff Council’s Multi-Disciplinary Team, Housing and Health services.
  • The successful candidate will be required to engage customers who have a history of disengaging from services, using a variety of techniques and approaches to build a relationship and develop a support plan.

What We Are Looking For From You

  • We are looking for dynamic, motivated and creative individuals with the ability to foster positive relationships and have experience of providing excellent customer service. This is an exciting opportunity, and we are looking for a variety of people from various working backgrounds to make a real difference.
  • Proven experience of working with people with complex behaviours and an understanding of the issues faced by homelessness would be an advantage.
  • The working environment can be challenging so the ability to remain calm under pressure will be an advantage. The role will require the successful candidate to support the management team with all aspects of the service and have experience of working in a team to meet objectives and contribute to a high quality of service.
  • A full valid driving license is essential as the successful candidate will be required to work from multiple locations.
