About The Service

The Resources Directorate is responsible for a wide range of corporate services, serving the whole council, and plays a vital role in supporting the operational Directorates in the delivery of their services.

The Information Governance Section is based within the Resources Directorate and supports the Council’s services, externally contracted services and Schools on matters relating to Data Protection, Freedom of Information, Records Management and Information Sharing.

About the job

This is a key role within the Information Governance Section where you will be managing a team dealing with our Information Request Service and Records Management Service.

You will work across the organisation providing expert advice, training and support to senior managers and staff across the organisation.

As a senior manager within the Information Governance Section, you will be expected to be continuously identifying and implementing business change that leads to service improvements.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Information Governance specialist to join the Information Governance Section.

You will have detailed knowledge of the relevant national and international legislation and it would be desirable if you held the BCS Certificate in Data Protection and Freedom of Information or equivalent.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build successful relationships and trust with a wide range of partners.

You will have a proven track record in leading, motivating and developing staff.

An ability to work to deadlines, respond to competing priorities and manage a wide range of stakeholders will be essential.
