An exciting opportunity has arisen within Housing & Communities for a Lead Operative based within Responsive Repairs Uniit.

Cardiff Council is the largest Local Authority in Wales responsible for delivering repairs to over 13,000 properties. The successful candidates will work within our service area and develop a variety of workplace skills, knowledge and experience in our Responsive Repairs Unit and Void Section as well developing knowledge and understanding of the work and responsibilities of working in Local Government in Cardiff.

About the job

The successful candidate will ensure an excellent responsive repairs service is delivered by ensuring repairs are attended and completed within timescales, giving excellent customer service to the tenants within their own specific trades.

You will ensure compliance with all required legislative, statutory and council policies and procedures and to support Management in a technical capacity relevant to their trade.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will have NVQ2, City and Guilds or equivalent in their relevant trade, and have excellent communications skills, with a strong track record of working in a construction/maintenance workplace.

The successful individual will need to be competent whilst working as a mobile operative, arranging and communicating daily with tenants, administration staff and technical managers by means of telephone, email and PDA applications.
