About The Service

The Responsive Repairs Unit are responsible for the maintenance of all Cardiff Council domestic housing stock, including Temporary Accommodation, Community Living Complexes, hostels, individual rooms and communal areas of blocks of flats.  

We currently have 3 vacancies.

About the job

The successful candidates will be responsible for responding to basic maintenance requests within domestic housing stock, hostel buildings, temporary accommodation and individual rooms and communal areas.

Tasks may include painting, replacing door handles, other carpentry tasks such as replacing areas of skirting board, and simple plumbing tasks such as renewing tap washer.  As well as carrying out basic fire safety measures such as fitting fireproof letter boxes etc.

Basic Cleaning skills may also be required to support the on-site cleaning and clearance teams.

The post holder will also act as second person with skilled trades persons when assisting with bigger jobs or those which require a second person for manual handling reasons. 

What We Are Looking For From You

A relevant professional qualification in maintenance work is not required although experience of working with a trade that uses manual tools and equipment and is customer facing would be an advantage.

You will need to be well-organised and able to work on your own initiative, as well as working within a team.  You would also be required to drive a council vehicle.
