About The Service

We are a small team based in Ty Canna Services, Canton, Cardiff providing a high quality community service to adults with mental health issues and enabling them move through recovery. Peer support is an important aspect of the service. Referrals are received from Cardiff Community Mental Health Teams and we work across the City. Following Initial Assessment we can provide 1:1 Outreach support and / or the opportunity to undertake a range of activities in community settings. The service requires flexibility / home- working and willingness to run online sessions.

About the job

We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Outreach Worker - Peer Support to join the team. We are looking for someone with lifetime experience of mental health issues who inspire hope in service users. You would have experience of using mental health services such as CMHT's. Prior experience as a service user rep on various forums would be an advantage. The successful person will work with people to help them work towards their goals, hopes and aspirations and move through recovery. The ability to work in collaboration with other services is required as well as the ability to signpost to key agencies. The post requires people to be able to work on their own initiative and also co-operatively with teams.

What We Are Looking For From You

We would like to hear from you if you are innovative, enthusiastic and highly motivated with excellent communication and IT skills. Experience of working in the field of mental health provision is essential. Personal experience of working through recovery is required. Prior experience as a peer supporting vulnerable people is desirable. The successful person will also be organised, creative and excited at the opportunity to help people realise their potential and move forward with their lives.
You need to be calm under pressure, resilient and have a good understanding of individual needs.

We need you to be flexible in both working hours and location and that include occasional weekends and evenings. A full valid driving license and the use of a car is desirable.
