About The Service
Sitting within the Planning, Transport & Environment Directorate, The Network Management Team are responsible for delivering and providing support for all major events and highway projects. The events programme includes large scale city wide events, such as the Cardiff Half Marathon and also more regularly supports events at venues in Cardiff, such as the Principality Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium. Similarly the team supports the delivery of key highway projects, which includes city centre development, cycleways, bus priority, SMART Corridors, parking projects and associated traffic regulation orders.
About the job
As a Project Officer in the Transportation Network Management team, you will assist the Operational Manager and the Network Management team by providing the required administrative and financial monitoring support required for the delivery of major events and network restrictions for highway projects.
A key requirement of this role will be to work across / with teams to ensure a joined up working approach is undertaken. The post holder will be required to attend meetings with external stakeholders and also lead on coordination of correspondence with Members, event promoters, contractors, and when required address any public queries and complaints. Letter writing, minute taking / detailed logging in multi-agency control settings skills will be essential.
In addition the post holder will need to be highly organised and have experience in managing and coordinating large teams of people, which will include staff briefings and the processing of payroll.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will have experience of extensive administrative organisational work – which should include letter writing, minute taking, briefing sheets, for example. Excellent communication skills are also vital, along with being able to work in a restricted environment with partner agencies, such as the police. A good knowledge of Cardiff’s major event programme and associated transport infrastructure is essential. You will also need to be well organised and able to manage a team of staff.
You must meet all the personal specification requirements and have all of the skills needed to undertake this role.
