We have set out our One Planet Cardiff ambition for Cardiff and Council to be carbon neutral by 2030. The Planning, Transport and Environment Directorate plays a pivotal role in making this happen, effectively managing future development, establishing, and delivering the growth and sustainability vision of one of Britain’s fastest growing cities.
As the One Planet Programme Manager you will play a leading role in delivering this low carbon city. Delivering major sustainable programmes, you will be working closely with our teams in sustainable transport, planning, energy, and decarbonisation you will also work across the Council and with key partners in health, public services, and city stakeholders.
Cardiff Council is one of the largest employers in Wales, joining an experienced and motivated group of Officers within the Climate Emergency Service area as part of the PTE Directorate. We are passionate about making a positive difference, supporting communities and neighbourhoods, and achieving real outcomes on the ground.
About the job
You will work with Senior Managers across the Council, as well as with key partners to deliver major high impact sustainable programmes.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for the candidate who understands the wider picture, gets the urgency and key priorities within the climate change agenda. A candidate who can shape and delver major programmes and who is also able to engage with people across the council and partners to share their enthusiasm and vision for doing things better.
It is essential that you have experience in delivering high impact projects and programmes in the sustainability, low carbon, air quality broadly environmental or similar fields and have a strong awareness of programme management, engagement and working in active partnerships in the public, private or voluntary sectors.
