About The Service
Cardiff Parenting 0-18 is part of Cardiff Council’s Early Help Services, available to all families living across Cardiff with a child or young person under 18. Cardiff Parenting 0-18 is grant funded by Welsh Government and complements the parenting services offered in Flying Start areas of Cardiff. Within Cardiff Parenting 0-18, both group programmes and individual programmes are available. Collectively, the Parenting Services are led by a Senior Educational Psychologist.
The Parenting Groups Manager (Cardiff Parenting 0-18) manages a team of practitioners who deliver group parenting programmes and manual led 1:1 programmes across Cardiff.

About the job
We are seeking to appoint a Parenting Practitioner, who will deliver a menu of Parenting Programmes for the Cardiff Parenting 0-18 service across Cardiff. We invite applications from candidates who are able to deliver services in English and Welsh. Training in the parenting programmes will be provided.
The successful candidate will provide parenting interventions on a group basis and also, where necessary, on a one to one basis with service users in their home; and lead on the delivery of crèche support for families accessing programmes of intervention. The successful candidate may also carry out supervision and performance reviews to ensure staff feel supported in their role and have opportunities for development
What We Are Looking For From You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A qualification in Early Years Childcare & Development at Level 3 relevant to the list of required qualifications to work within the Early Years and Childcare Sector in Wales (this information can be found at www.ccwales.org.uk)
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Proven experience of working within a service team or project for early years children, young people and their families
- Experience of working in a crèche setting
- Proven experience in developing a programme of activities which engage children; meeting individual needs and the child’s developmental stage
- An understanding of, and experience in dealing with, safeguarding issues in relation to children, young people and their families
