Cardiff is one of the greenest cities in the United Kingdom, and our extensive network of parks and green spaces for which our residents have a close affinity with shape it’s character, providing an expression of our capital city.
The Council recognises the contribution that these spaces make to the environmental, economic, and social well-being of the city, the important role they play in response to the climate, physical activity and health agendas and is committed to an ambitious programme of investment and sustainable development.
Provision includes 395 individual parks and green spaces, 20 of which hold Green Flag status, 47 woodland sites, 28 statutory allotments sites, 171 play facilities and 151 sports pitches / playing surfaces and our unique Riding Stables.
About the job
Working for one of the largest employers in Wales, an exciting opportunity exists for a committed and experienced individual to join a motivated and passionate group of officers working within the Urban Ranger Team within Parks Services.
To provide site supervision support across the Urban Ranger Team throughout the city.
To monitor and check workforce performance, prepare work programmes and allocate operational resources ensuring effectiveness of service, delivery and development.
What We Are Looking For From You
Experience of managing teams, helping to motivate and inspire staff to develop and reach their full potential is key to service delivery.
You will need to have excellent organisational skills and maintain sound governance by keeping detailed records. You must also be able to identify solutions / problem solve relating to emergencies such as storms/high winds and inclement weather.
Good interpretational skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both the written and verbal form is essential. You also must be able to identify solutions / problem solve relating to a wide range of issues and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team showing a willingness to assist and support others, driving change with a commitment to meeting the objectives of the service.
