About the Service

The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and is administered by Cardiff Council. The Fund has 42 participating employers and over 45,000 Active, Deferred and Pensioner members.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team and undertake the role of Pensions Officer. You will assist the Senior Pensions Officer in all aspects of pensions administration, including, joiners, leavers, transfers in and out of the Scheme, retirements, death benefits and record maintenance.  You will need to deliver an efficient and effective pension service, to all members and pensioners of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and the 42 participating employers. You will need to have extensive Local Government Pension Scheme experience. You will proactively identify and respond to industry legislation, regulations, and guidance changes.

About the job

You will be responsible for:

  • Understanding and interpreting complex Regulations that apply to the Scheme.

 

  • Validate and monitor the output produced by Senior Pension Assistants to ensure the accurate and correct calculations and payments into and out of the Pension Fund for all types of benefits in the LGPS.

 

  • Your contribution will ensure that complex case work is dealt with in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

 

  • Provide expert advice and support to scheme members regarding their pension entitlements, options available, and any changes in legislation affecting their pensions.

 

  • Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.

 

  • You will assist with developing and monitoring quality standards to meet statutory requirements and drive forward continuous improvements.

 

  • You will deputise for the Senior Pensions Officer as required.

  • To be confident and comfortable in implementing and driving change in a team within a dynamic work environment to deliver results.
