About the job

An exciting opportunity has become available within Cardiff Council’s Education directorate for a Performance and Governance Manager. This post is based within the Youth Service.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic youth service team who are working with young people across the city. The aim of your role will be to lead effective performance management arrangements to agreed qualities and standards in line with the Council’s statutory requirements. This will include the development and maintenance of governance procedures and reports for Cardiff Youth Service including performance data, financial profiles and any other relevant business processes.

Experience of managing a team is essential for this role.  All our teams are committed to effective supervision and performance management. 

A clear understanding of the needs of young people is required.  You will also be required to respond appropriately through data sets, report writing and data analysis which are all vital for this role.  

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and professional worker who will encourage creativity and inspire innovation within their team.  The successful post holder will have a sound knowledge of compliance, data management and report writing whilst understanding the Youth Work landscape.

The successful candidate will be able to manage and supervise the Performance and Governance team.  This will include oversight of management information, finance and administrative staff, supporting youth service management with corporate governance frameworks such as safeguarding, health and safety and risk management.

The post holder will have a proven track record of strengthening the performance management culture within the service that aids self-evaluation and outcome based service improvement leading to better outcomes for children and young people.
