About the job

We are looking for a Principal Social Worker to act as the key link between CAMHS and Intake and Assessment Team. You will help advise and assist CAMHS team members on matters relating to Children’s services and Safeguarding issues.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) aims to help young people up to the age of 18 who are finding it hard to manage their emotional and psychological health, and who are suffering with acute, chronic and severe mental health problems.

The post holder will be the Children’s Services lead for child and adolescent mental health. To work in partnership with CAMHS and Health services and promote best practice and partnership working. To chair discharge planning meetings and lead in the development of Children’s Services support and interventions to children and young people with acute mental health difficulties.

To lead on bringing up to date theories, models and approaches to the Service.

To take consultations across Childrens Services teams and to lead with care planning and safety planning.

To Line Manage and Supervise Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and to act as a duty Manager within the interventions hub

You will be part of safety planning/discharging planning working in a multidisciplinary, person-centred way.

What We Are Looking For From You

Children’s Serivceis is a fast paced and exciting team, due to Cardiff’s demography the work is diverse, challenging and progressive.

You will need to have extensive experience of working in Children’s Services and safety and support plans. You will ned to have a broad knowledge of models, theories and approaches that support children and young people.

You will need to be a registered Social Worker, have excellent skills in assessment and the ability to write concise records and reports.  Being a good team player with excellent communication and organisation skills is vital for this role.

You will be required to have a full valid driving licence and sole use of a vehicle.
