About the job
The Council’s ambition to increase the city’s tree canopy from 18.9% of the city’s land area, to 25% by 2030 and since the inception of the project 100,000 trees have been planted.
Partnership working is central to the project and a wide and diverse range of external partners, including the Woodland Trust, Cardiff University, Natural Resources Wales, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, The South and West Wales Wildlife Trust and Forest Research UK support delivery.
Key to the success of the project to date has been the engagement secured with and role played by the volunteer workforce and tree guardians, which has resulted in the region of 5,000 volunteer hours generated per annum.
What We Are Looking For From You
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and driven individual with strong organisational and effective communication skills to lead project delivery, taking personal responsibility for getting things done.
You will possess a qualification in an environmental discipline and experience in project management, managing budgets and leading and delivering community engagement activities. You must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy, understanding others, recognising and adapting to a diverse range of stakeholder audiences.
Project management experience is an essential requirement as is the ability to set deadlines / targets for oneself and others, ensuring completion together with the ability to problem solve across a wide range of issues.
Additional information
Owing to the nature of the role, the post-holder will be required to work some evenings and weekends as the post demands.
