Cardiff is growing faster than any other capital city in Europe and we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join the Digital Projects Team within Waste Management.
The team is responsible for supporting the digital systems and processes that underpin the daily operations of household and business waste collections. The department is digitising rapidly and increased workloads has led to the requirement for an additional team member.
About the job
As a Projects Support Officer you will be working as part of team to undertake a range of duties to help improve efficiencies and customer service. These duties include planning waste collection rounds using GIS mapping software, supporting/training users of various operational software systems and exploring new softwares and technologies to make operational improvements.
You will also be assisting the Digital Projects Manager with developing databases and Microsoft PowerBi reports, to aid management decision making. You will take part in departmental meetings to identify and align multiple databases to create a central PowerBi dashboard.
There will also be an opportunity to be involved in city wide recycling projects, which will help Cardiff Council to meet the statutory recycling target of 70% recycling by 2024/25.
What We Are Looking For From You
The ideal candidate will have strong ICT skills and will have good knowledge and experience of all Microsoft packages (i.e. Word, Excel).
Experience of using mapping software or waste collection systems (i.e. Collective) is desirable, but not essential as training can be provided.
You will be required to have strong interpersonal and communication skills as you will be required to work within a team and also alongside other teams and departments.

Additional information
The role is a permanent position and is based at the offices at Lamby Way Household Recycling Centre, Cardiff (CF3 2HP). You will be required to attend the office to work, however there is the opportunity to work from home 1 or 2 days per week.
This post has a flexible working arrangement. You will be required to work 37 hours per week and you will have flexibility to work these hours between 7am and 7pm Mon-Fri.
