About The Service

Cardiff Youth Justice Service is on an improvement journey following a HMIP inspection, where we are striving to achieve excellent outcomes for all children and young people in our service.

About the job

To help us continue with our positive progress to date and to divert children and young people from the youth justice system we are seeking an enthusiastic, self motivated case manager for Referral Orders and Bureau (Out of Court Disposals).  The post is offered on a full time permanent basis.

What We Are Looking For From You

You will have an understanding of the criminal justice system as it affects children and young people (aged 10 –17) who offend or are at risk of offending. You will have an understanding of the principles of restorative justice and restorative approaches, have experience of working with disaffected children and young people and able to evidence building positive relationships with young people.

You will have experience of undertaking assessments, in addition to planning appropriate and targeted interventions to reduce the risk of offending/re-offending.

The ethos of the service is to promote restorative values, voluntary engagement and empowerment of participants including parents/carers, families, victims and the community.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.
