Cardiff Council is the largest Local Authority in Wales responsible for delivering repairs to over 13,000 properties. The successful candidates will work within our service area and develop a variety of workplace skills, knowledge and experience in our Responsive Repairs Unit as well developing knowledge and understanding of the work and responsibilities of working in Local Government in Cardiff. About the job

The successful applicants will work as part of a team to deliver a first-class service. As a Trainee we will help and encourage you to develop skills that will support you with your future career. You will be encouraged to take on a wide range of jobs. You will receive supervision, on the job training and support from an experienced Tradesperson within the team, who will help you to develop, there is no requirement to attend college for this position. As a Trainee you will be developing to provide efficient support in a positive, customer focused manner.

While a driving licence is not required for this role, it may be essential for positions you apply for after completing the traineeship. Therefore, we encourage you to obtain a full, valid driving licence during your traineeship, and we will provide support to help you achieve this.

You should show a willingness to learn and be comfortable in a learning environment. This position will be a fixed 2-year Temporary contract.

What We Are Looking For From You

You will need to be well-organised and able to work on your own initiative, as well as working within a team. You will be expected to complete basic Health and Safety training and site-specific training which would be required if applying for any future posts within the council or private organisation.

This post is temporary for two years from your date of commencement.
