The Review Manager role is based within our Regional Safeguarding Board Business Unit which forms part of our Strategic Safeguarding Team within Cardiff Council.
The Strategic Safeguarding team exist to facilitate cross-department and regional collaboration to deliver on our safeguarding priorities, provide a platform for innovation through the delivery of priority improvement projects, identifying and sharing effective practice supporting data-led practice.

To support successful delivery since the expansion of the team’s programme of work, we are seeking to grow the team and require a motivated Review Manager to improve the outcomes and experience for children and adults at risk.

About the job

This is a regional position; you will work as part of the Regional Safeguarding Board Business Unit to co-ordinate the implementation and delivery all Safeguarding Reviews that fall under the board’s responsibility. This will include Adult and Child Practice Reviews. It will also involve implementing and embedding the Single Unified Safeguarding Review process which will encompass Adult Practice Reviews, Child Practice Reviews, Mental Health Homicide Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews and Offensive Weapon Homicide Reviews.

You will also be responsible for cascading and supporting implementation of the learning that arises from the case review process across the Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan Regional Safeguarding Board (C&V RSB) Partnership.

The position will involve you playing a key role to:
• Coordinate the C&V RSB’s responsibilities in relation to all statutory safeguarding review processes under the new Single Unified Safeguarding Review framework. Managing all day-to-day business in relation to this process, including commissioning and recruiting panel members, supporting the development and publication of learning gathered via the SUSR process and providing quality assurance for all reports produced.
• Coordinate the C&V RSB response in cases containing particularly important legal, political, social or organisation implications, advising on service change and considering the publication of the report & accompanying media strategy.
• Develop and deliver training packages for Panel Members and wider stakeholders to cascade thematic learning
• Provide regular reports and data analysis for the C&V RSB on safeguarding risks and issues and develop multi-agency action plans to address and mitigate these.
• Support service areas across the safeguarding partnership to address identified gaps and areas for improvement relating to their safeguarding responsibilities developing ways to monitor and evaluate progress against review action plans.
• Maintain and develop relationships with a diverse network of stakeholders.
