The Cardiff Commitment is looking for a Schools Liaison Officer (Business Engagement) based at home with some face to face to face time as required at County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, CF10 4UW.

The Cardiff Commitment are looking for someone with a real passion for making a difference to the lives of children and young people in Cardiff. Someone who also has the knowledge of the Cardiff economy and can work with businesses to support opportunities for schools and young people.

We want to generate opportunities for children and young people linked to the Cardiff Capital Region growth sectors to help develop the knowledge and skills needed in our young people to ensure they secure a positive destination once they leave school.

We are looking to recruit a person that has business engagement experience and an understanding/knowledge of the growth sectors in Cardiff and the Capital Region.

But more importantly we want to recruit someone who understands what excellent opportunities look like for children and young people that encourage ambition, develop skills and support progression into Education, Employment and Training.  

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for someone with experience of creating and brokering opportunities from the business community for schools and assist in raising the awareness of career opportunities and pathways to work for young people – e.g. via work experience, traineeships, apprenticeships, internships and jobs etc.

We want someone who has the confidence to network with a wide range of stakeholders from across the public, private and third sectors and engage them with the Cardiff Commitment initiative.

You will understand the importance of strong networks, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders such as, schools, colleges, Council staff, industry partners and regional partners.

You will cultivate strong relationships with organisations across the city who are looking to create opportunities for schools or young people and help develop the future workforce.

You will work with stakeholders and the internal Marketing Team to develop creative, integrated marketing campaigns to ensure industry opportunities reach the children and young people who need it most.

You will work with the Business Engagement Advisor for the Cardiff Commitment and use the Councils Economic Development Teams relationship with industry as a mechanism to engage with the business community and create opportunities for schools and young people.
