Cardiff Council spends around £430 million each year procuring a wide range of good, services and works, from over 8,000 suppliers/contractors. The Council’s multi award winning Commissioning and Procurement Team has a number of exciting opportunities. We are looking to recruit a Senior Category Specialist for our Environment and Social Care Category Teams.
About the job
We are looking to appoint self-motivated people who have general procurement practitioner experience gained primarily from the public sector although this is not essential. This experience could be across a broad range of public sector spend Categories such as People, Built Environment and Corporate.
What We Are Looking For From You
The roles will be for enthusiastic individuals who have excellent communication skills and can demonstrate the requirements and experience detailed in the Person Specification. The main responsibilities and requirements of the roles are to:
• Direct and co-ordinating all sourcing activity.
• Ensure effective contract and supplier relationship management to maximise value for money.
• Deliver and implement category management and relevant sourcing strategies.
• Deliver targeted savings across the assigned categories / sub-categories.
• Provide advice and guidance to support the framework members, category team members and Service Area staff with respect to procurement procedures and processes.
Additional information
The role is permanent and is based at County Hall albeit currently due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, all staff are home working.
