The ICT department provides high quality IT systems, support and maintenance to enable Cardiff Council to deliver its full range of services.
The Enterprise Systems and Data teams within ICT are responsible for the development, support and maintenance of both in-house developed and 3rd party applications consumed by internal staff and the wider public.

About the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our small but busy and successful Data engineering team.
The Data Team is responsible for developing and maintaining our high-quality data provisioning service which ensures that management information is available to decision makers across our organisation.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our three other experienced Senior Data Engineers and our Enterprise Architect.
The Senior Data Engineer post will also be responsible for optimizing business processes relating to our SAP ERP application by developing interfaces, workflows and custom reports using ABAP programming language and other SAP development tools. Training will be provided but a proven aptitude for software engineering and development is vital.
What We Are Looking For From You
To be a successful candidate for this role you must have the following:
• Demonstrable specialist knowledge and skills of database and data warehouse concepts, data modelling techniques and design principles.
• Extensive practical experience of developing, maintaining and fine-tuning a data warehousing and/or big data solution (ideally using Microsoft SQL Server & Azure Cloud technologies).
• Experience in developing organisational policies, standards and guidelines relating to data management.
