About The Service

Bryn y Deryn is a KS3 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for 90 pupils who have behavioural, emotional, mental health and social difficulties.

We are looking to appoint to a Senior teaching assistant /  Safeguarding officer.

About the job

To work under the guidance of teaching/ALNCO/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teachers& ALNCO in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. Staff may also supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of teachers.  The primary focus will be to maintain good order and to keep learners on task.  Cover Supervisors will need to respond to questions and generally assist learners to undertake set activities.

To work with SLT, learners and families and children’s services to fulfil safeguarding and child protection policies and processes

This position will be based long term at the old Fitzalan site – Nyth y Deryn.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful applicant will work as part of a team and have previous experience of working with learners who have behaviour social and mental health problems and be able to empathise with pupils’ difficulties in a cover/leading learning and intervention capacity.

This post carries an ALN allowance.

This post are part time and will work 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The salary shown however relates to 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and will therefore be pro-rata’d accordingly.

These posts have a requirement for registration with the Education Workforce Council.
