An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) as a Service Lead.
The Emergency Duty Team provides an out-of-hours service, responding to statutory emergencies and other social work matters that cannot be safely left until the following working day. Our EDT service is a regional partnership arrangement with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, hosted and managed by Cardiff Council to all citizens across the two local authority areas working collaboratively with partner agencies and other emergency services.

About the job
As EDT Service Lead you will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of service for Adults and Children across both local authority areas outside of office hours. The post holder will be responsible for strategic and day to day service planning, the quality and standard of service delivery and the practise and conduct of staff and be responsible for creating a culture of continuous improvement. You will share these responsibilities with a second EDT Service Lead, and you will work co-operatively with them to ensure a joined-up approach to management of the service.
You will have a commitment to safeguarding and upholding the rights of children, young people and adults and working in a strength-based, preventative way. In a rewarding, diverse but complex environment, you will provide leadership and guidance to the team. You will be expected to work closely with other agencies such as the Police and Health professionals fostering positive working relationships and collaborative ways of working. You will be committed to working in a way that promotes equality and inclusion for all our citizens.
The contractual hours are 22.2 hours per week, and you will be expected to work unsocial hours to meet the needs of the service. You will have regular formal and informal supervision from the Operational Manager for Mental Health.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for two qualified social workers with proven management and leadership experience. One will take the lead role with a specialism in children and other will take a lead role with a specialism in adults.
You will have extensive experience of safeguarding in both adults and children and a sound knowledge of relevant legislation You will be committed to your ongoing professional development, always striving for excellence. You will have experience of assessment of risk and complex needs of vulnerable adults and children and be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.
You will demonstrate high standards of professional practice including good record keeping and ICT competence. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with service users, colleagues, senior management, and other professional bodies and able to represent the service in a variety of forums.
A degree in Social Work or equivalent Social Work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales are essential for this role along with being an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for which an additional allowance is paid.
