About The Service

This role currently attracts a market supplement of £3,000 (full time equivalent), reviewed annually.

Cardiff benefits from being the capital city of Wales, offering social workers the opportunity to work with a highly diverse population with a variety of care and support needs. As the largest local authority in Wales we support nearly 5000 individuals to live well, offering them a person-centred support structure to ensure they can meet their own needs and outcomes.

The Learning Disabilities teams provide social work advice, information, and support services to adults with Learning Disabilities and their carers, working closely with wider multi-disciplinary teams to support ongoing complex needs. We focus on the strengths of the people we work with and seek opportunities to support people to feel valued and included in their communities. We use a strength based approach and are committed to enabling people with learning disabilities to maximise independence, choice and control.

We have two social work teams who offer information, support and assistance to people and their carers. There are opportunities for our staff to work with people with a wide spectrum of needs and specialise in an area of interest if they wish, such as transitions or dual diagnosis.
