About the job
We are looking to recruit a part-time grade 6 social work assistant to work in Cardiff Alcohol and Drug Team which is part of the wider Specialist Support Services Team in Mental Health. All teams within Adult Services are established with experienced staff who support each other during these challenging times through agile working practices. We work creatively using a strength-based model and evidence-based practice to achieve the best outcomes for the individuals that we support and their families and communities.
This role will involve direct work with individuals and families whose primary needs relate to substance use. Cardiff Alcohol and Drug Team is part of the Specialist Support Services Team in Mental Health. Our work involves multi-agency working with a range of statutory and non-statutory partners. We work in partnership with individuals, their families (where appropriate) and other agencies to support them to achieve their outcomes and improve their health and well-being, reduce substance misuse related harm and to improve their quality of life.
We work to a preventative, strength-based model under the principles of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014. You will be expected to understand and work within the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Wales’s Safeguarding procedures. An understanding of Trauma-Enhanced Practice would also be beneficial.
You will work with individuals and their families to develop appropriate care and support plans that will enable them to achieve their personal outcomes and what matters to them. You will receive regular supervision from a Social Worker within the team. What We Are Looking For From You

• You will be willing to undertake training and learn about the legislative framework in which the team operate.
• You will be committed to training, peer support sessions and supervision.
• You will be willing to undertake strength based social work and learn to explain this when describing your practice.
• You will want to work in the capital city of Wales in Services where we support each other and work in partnership with our colleagues in Health.
• The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.

This post is part time and will work 18.5 hours hours per week.
