About the Senior Social Worker role in Cardiff.
Our senior social workers are valued for the skills and knowledge they bring to the service. They are key to the continued practice of strength-based social work approaches in Cardiff.
The roles available are in the community teams in the Older Peoples Service and in the hospital teams in University Hospital Wales and University Hospital Llandough.
Each senior social worker will manage complex assessments and cases. We will look to you for professional approaches to mental capacity work and to safeguarding our citizens. A good knowledge of Continuing Healthcare process is advantageous.
We will ask you to support social workers and assistants and to offer them high quality supervision. You will have a role in the support of the strength-based programme and we encourage our senior staff to be involved in other areas of interest, for example working in thematic work streams as we move Adult Services forward.

What We Are Looking For From You
1. Experience and commitment to excellent practice.
2. Assessment skills and a clear understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014.
3. Confidence and knowledge in operating within the Mental Capacity Act legal framework. Experience of Court of Protection work and process is an advantage.
4. Experience of supporting colleagues and/or students and a willingness to actively work in a supportive way in teams and on a one to one basis.
5. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well being of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area.
