About The Service

The Economic Directorate is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Council’s waste education and enforcement team to improve local environmental quality and achieve a high standard of customer service.

 

About the job

You will work closely with your team members, residents and directing operational staff to deliver our commitments to waste and litter enforcement, as well as waste and recycling education.

You will have a focus on customer service, getting things done, taking personal responsibility for the completion of tasks and projects, the promotion of key messages and the delivery of campaigns/action days as well as waste and litter enforcement. Activities will include educating residents, businesses, visitors and stakeholders on waste storage, presentation and providing specialist knowledge and expertise in litter, waste and environmental legislation. You will also be required to issue fixed penalty notices for littering and dog fouling and pursue prosecutions to court, for waste and litter related offences.

What We Are Looking For From You

As an individual you will perform equally well in an office environment as well as an operational setting or out on the street searching waste and educating residents.

You will also have good communication and interpersonal skills which will enable you to effectively engage with a wide range of staff and stakeholders in order to deliver the Council’s objectives.

A full and valid driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.

You will be expected to work overtime from time to time to ensure the delivery of the front line services. You will also be obliged to work overtime in accordance with adjusted service delivery schedules during/around bank holiday periods, early mornings, weekends and evenings.
