About The Service

It is proposed to create a new Senior System Management and Development officer (G6) within the Benefits Assessment Section to support the existing managers.

The caseloads in the teams have dramatically increased due the impact in the increased number of claims across the service as the pandemic continues to effect residents financially. The teams are responsible for administering and paying claims including Free School Meals, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Self-Isolation payments and the Winter Fuel Payment scheme.

Many of these cases have unfortunately increased beyond any caseload levels previously seen. Therefore, this post will concentrate on some of the additional work that the system team do and will also be on hand to add additional capacity to the existing team.
