About The Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiff Education Inclusion Service Hearing Impaired/Deaf (HI/D)Team as a qualified Teacher of the Deaf.
As part of the Inclusion Service we are team of experienced and qualified Teachers of the Deaf providing a service for children/young people (CYP) with a diagnosed hearing loss and are looking for someone to complement and fit in with our friendly, busy team.
As a Service we work in partnership to facilitate inclusion of HI/D CYP into their local mainstream schools, colleges and early years settings through early intervention, effective use of technology and capacity building of staff to meet the needs of the learners
About the job
The successful applicant will join and support a team of experienced and enthusiastic Teachers of the Deaf, to manage and prioritise an assigned caseload of Hearing-Impaired/Deaf children and young people in family homes and educational settings
The successful applicant will work within a range of settings across Cardiff supporting children and young people who may have a range of Hearing-Impairments and Additional Learning Needs to enable them to become confident young people and able to achieve their potential.
You will be expected to perform the tasks and duties of a specialist teacher in line with the Additional Learning Needs Code for Wales 2020, and the Quality Standards for Specialist teaching and support services for deaf children guidelines for professionals.
What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for a teacher who can offer:
– Qualified Teacher status with at least 3 years’ experience.
– A proven track record as a successful teacher.
– Be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf or willing to complete training within 3 years.
– Be passionate about and committed to the Inclusion of all children/young people. – Has British Sign Language level 1 level 2 would be desirable
– Evidence of positive working relationships with families, children/young people, educational environments and other professionals.
– Be flexible, organised and creative in work practices.
– Work effectively independently but also as part of a team.
– Committed to continuing professional development.
Additional information
Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (£27,491 - £42,333 per annum)
You will be expected to travel between settings and daily access to your own vehicle is an essential requirement
