As the Capital City of Wales, Cardiff is growing faster than any other European City. The Recycling Neighbourhood Services Department are looking for dynamic individuals, to join the waste campaigns and engagement team. These individuals will work with local communities, in the shared journey towards zero waste and One Planet Cardiff.
About the job
No 2 days are the same in as a Waste Campaigns Officer. You might be giving a talk to a school or community group one day, gathering on street data another, developing content for our social media account and doing all sorts of other things to keep the waste and recycling scheme running in between.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a driven, self motivated individuals to design and deliver programmes of activity and campaigns, designed to:
- reduce/re-use waste
- use material as a resource through recycling
- empower and engage residents to participate in campaigns/collections/initiatives
Waste campaigns officers will need build strong and effective relationships across targeted communities with groups such as residents, schools, landlords, students and more.
What We Are Looking For From You
Above all, we are looking for a genuine passion for environmental issues. Your role will involve inspiring others to make changes to their behaviour, and you will need to show your commitment to get them on board.
An understanding of relevant recycling and waste legislation, strategies and campaigns is a must.
You will have excellent organisation and communication skills and be able to use a variety of communication channels.
You will quickly be able to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders, and you can’t be afraid of an audience as you will be required to speak to groups of people.
You will be proficient in IT, including the ability to manage email and social media accounts

A full valid driving licence and use of a car are essential requirements of this role.
