The Inclusion Service is part of the Education and Lifelong Learning Directorate, and is responsible for ensuring the council meets its statutory responsibilities to children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

About the job

In this role you will play a leading role in the ALN implementation process, providing strategic and operational management of the ALN Planning Monitoring and Review section of the Inclusion Service to ensure a smooth transition from the statutory requirements set out in the Sen Code of Practice for Wales (2002), to new responsibilities under the ALN Code.

The role will support the Head of Inclusion in relation to the planning and development of ALN specialist provision.

In collaboration with the Principle Education Psychologist and the Achievement Leader Inclusion (ALN Specialist Services), you will lead on the development of effective Person Centred Practice in schools, settings and council service; promote systems that place the ‘voice of the child’ at the heart of ALN planning and practice.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for an experienced education practitioner with proven leadership skills and the ability to lead and manage change. You will have excellent knowledge and understanding of the ALN Code, and the SEN Code of Practice for Wales (2002); and the implications of both Codes for council policy and practice.

You will have experience of working in collaboration with health, children services, parent partnership services and other partners to promote inclusion and improve outcomes for children and young people with ALN.
