About The Service

The Cardiff and Vale Joint Equipment Service (JES) Team is looking to employ a part time (22 hours per week) Admin Team Supervisor based at our warehouse, Units 2 & 3 Lambourne Crescent, Cardiff Business Park, Llanishen, Cardiff CF14 5GF.

The Council Joint Equipment Service team provides equipment to people within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. We order, deliver, collect and maintain a wide range of mobility aids to help people live as independently as possible within their own homes.
Equipment is ordered by health care professionals, such as District Nurses, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapists and includes a wide range items from specialist beds and hoists to bathing equipment and seating and walking equipment used by children is schools.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team to deliver a first class service to the residents of Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan.

About the job

This is a part time position of 22 hours per week.

You will be responsible for managing a team of administrative staff across multiple locations (multiple work sites and home workers). The team are the ‘front line’ service for the JES, taking enquiries from members of the public, clinicians, suppliers etc.
An experienced supervisor is required to take on the responsibility for all aspects of the admin teams performance (Personal Development, setting performance targets, managing sickness, disciplinaries etc. etc.).

The service is currently undertaking some fundamental changes (To include a move to a new building) and you will be required to lead and support staff through this process in order to continue to provide (and improve) this essential support to the JES service throughout this time of change.

Please note that this service operates from 8am – 4pm Monday – Thursday and 8am – 3:30pm on Friday.

What We Are Looking For From You

This is a part time position of 22 hours per week.

You will have experience of managing a team of administrative staff who will consist of home workers, staff working from the same location as you and staff working from different work locations to your own base.

You will be experienced in setting realistic and challenging performance targets for staff and providing them with the necessary support in order to achieve their potential. Experienced in setting out and implementing new procedures and engaging with staff to ensure they are aware of and follow the same.

You will be a confident and experienced communicator able to converse equally with clinicians, clients, contractors etc. The service can be pressurised and you will need to be able to negotiate between competing priorities/parties in order to continue to provide an excellent service to our customers whilst managing the finite resources available to you in terms of driving and admin staff.

You will need to work closely with the JES Service Manager when looking at the budgets for the service and flagging up if and where any overspends may be occurring and how to bring them back on target.
