About The Service

This vacancy is only available to employees of Cardiff Council including Cardiff Works and Agency Workers currently engaged with the Council.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Inclusion Service Support Team, in the Education Inclusion Service.  This new team will be responsible for delivering a range of business support functions for the various teams within the Inclusion Service.

The Education Inclusion Service comprises a range of services responsible for improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN), which in future will be known as additional learning needs (ALN).  Services include educational psychology, specialist teaching, inclusion officers and the casework team, which coordinates statutory assessments and issue statements of SEN.   The services work with schools and other education settings to support the identification, assessment and support for learners with SEN/ ALN.

From September 2021, the service will be working with schools and other partners to implement the statutory ALN Code, which will replace the SEN Code of practice for Wales.  This is a significant change management process, introducing a more inclusive, child-rights based approach, as part of the Welsh Government ALN Transformation Programme.
