Our Vocational Education Cardiff Team is looking to employ an ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHING ASSISTANT based at Cardiff Riding School, Pontcanna Fields, Fields Park Rd, Cardiff CF5 2AX

Our team at Vocational Education Cardiff offer fantastic opportunities for young people aged 11 – 16 to gain practical skills and hands on work experience needed to progress in a range of exciting vocational subjects.


About the job

In this teaching assistant role you will support our service:

To support staff and volunteers in the delivery of programs in animal care at the Cardiff Riding School

To help plan and deliver alternative education programs linked to land based studies. Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.

To work cooperatively with the site staff to ensure the efficient running of the Cardiff Riding School.

To ensure that the programmes linked to the horses at the Cardiff Riding School reflects the needs of users and young people attending the site.

To liaise with local authority service areas and other providers in the local community.

To act as an advocate within these networks.

To take positive action to ensure that young people from all elements of the local community are included and acceptance of all pupils.

Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.

We are moving to online and homeworking and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment, however you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity.
Sessions are Monday to Friday 10am -3pm

Our teaching assistants gain valuable experience working for the largest Council in Wales.

This post is temporary until 31st July 2023.

Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.

This post is part time and will work 25.00 hours per week.
