The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team is a regional arrangement between Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Local Authorities and Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board. The team is responsible for the receipt of requests for Urgent and Standard Authorisations under the DOLS Framework which are screened and prioritised. The team organises the necessary assessments for a determination under the DOLS framework and processes these assessments accordingly. The team provide ongoing training, advice and support with regards to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the Mental Capacity Act more broadly. The DOLS framework applies to those over the age of 18 years old. 

About the job

This is a permanent position in a full-time post of 37 hours per week.

The post is for the role of Best Interests Assessor within the team. You will work with a board range of adults with a range of diagnoses and needs in care home and hospital settings.  You will work collaboratively with service users, their families and representatives and health, social care and third sector colleagues.  You will play a vital role in upholding the rights of service users and the responsibilities of the Local authorities and health board.

You will be a confident practitioner will excellent analytical skills. You will be confident assessing and working within the MCA and DOLS framework. You will have professional and respectful approach when dealing with colleagues from differing organisation. You will be empathic to citizens needs and the needs of their families and representatives. You will be organised and work well to a deadline.
